dusk

Scant

scant this threadbare day
which morning dressed from night hoar
dusk illumes in gold

Dusk

day’s fallen glory
gleams the gloaming gathering
lavender on gold

Softening

the softening light
pale honey glazed reflections
glimmering water

Oak

oak’s leafless limbs ink
scrawl on burnished copper plate
dusk cold descending

Evening

the mist softened trees
golden hues fade to mourning
wood smoke from chimneys

Sunset

brilliant street lamps
spark soft glowing windows warm
day’s colours wash grey

Homeward

dusk palest blue moon
shining shadow sentinel
racing me to you

Discourse

crepe papered bones soft
blanketed against night’s chill
we talked as dusk dimmed

Fate

dusk treads time worn stones
to ancient shuttered portal
knocks and waits for fate
